The coronavirus outbreak is now a big issue all over the world affecting all of the sectors equally. And from the tech perspective, it has terminated a number of tech events and had changed the dates in 2020. They include gigantic events like MWC, Google I/O, Facebook’s F8, and SXSW. And by now it is getting closer to WWDC 2020 conference which is too possible for a change in dates and way from its usual line. So what will Apple do in focus on the biggest event of the year? Let us see the updates around.
What is the current impact of Coronovirus on Tech events to take place?
On Monday, the Santa Clara Public Health Department call for an order prohibiting mass assembles with more than 1,000 people in a place at once in concern of the coronavirus in its speedy run.
And as to Sara Cody, the Santa Clara County Health officer,
“This is a critical moment in the growing outbreak of COVID-19 in Santa Clara County. The strong measures we are taking today design to slow the spread of disease.”
The WWDC is usually in a plan to take place in San Jose, which is included in Santa Clara County. So the fact is clear here as it is going to happen with more than 5,000 participants, for which the prohibition is strictly applying. So under the terms of the ban, the WWDC 2020 will call off.
Then what is the plan for the WWDC 2020 event?
The event WWDC 2020 is still not officially in view about when and at what purpose it takes place. So it would probably take place in this year itself but with some changes to the usual plan. The mass gatherings outlaw is going to remain in place for about three weeks.
In the middle of March, Apple is usually starting to announce the date and information in regard to the biggest tech-event WWDC 2020. And that takes place in early June. So by that time if the mass gathering ban is removed and confirm things are moving to the safer side, Apple will definitely go with its plans.
For Apple, there are still some options available. The first easiest way we could think of is the company could postpone WWDC for a date in the future. But this seems unlikely at this stage. If not, there is another option for Apple to turn the whole event into an online-only event. This was the option for Google and Facebook too in regard to Google I/O and F8, in that order.
As to the trusted health reports, the unsafe coronavirus has killed over 4,000 already and has infected more than 113,000 people around. The rate has been worsening in the U.S. concerning to recent weeks, with around 423 total cases reported and about 19 victims.
Apple WWDC 2020 will happen this year, what do you think?
